Veto Lodge, at the original Veto General Store, in Veto, Alabama, is now receiving guests for extended stays.
The town of Veto was once a bustling town. It had its own stop on the L & N Rail Line between the north and the south. It was the home of Slick and Dick Coffman, major league baseball players. Now, it is a quiet sliver of history for you to enjoy.
Veto, AL is located in beautiful northwest Alabama. Veto Lodge sits near State Line Road on the Alabama and Tennessee border. This amazing location offers the ten mile Richard Martin Rails To Trails (right out the front door of the Lodge), kayaking on the Elk River, Belle Chevre Goat Cheese Factory tours in downtown Elkmont, Athen's rich Civil War history and shopping, Huntsville's Space and Rocket Center, Tenessee's Amish Country, the Jack Daniel Distillery, a day trip to the Walls of Jericho, and much, much more.
Cleaning protocols for the Lodge follow Airbnb's COVID-19 cleaning protocols. Please see Airbnb's website for full details. Veto Lodge is a no-contact staycation. Pick up the key from a lockbox and let your safe vacation begin.
Veto Lodge, the home of The Veto General Store, was converted to an open concept space in 2018 by David Harwell, only recently opened as an Airbnb. It is the original location of the Coffman family-owned property since the 1800s. The General Store and the main house burned down and were rebuilt in 1950. Many original artifacts still exist.
The Lodge is 1,000 sq ft of wonderful open-space. It’s similar to a big city loft space. The interior design creates several cozy environments throughout the Lodge for TV watching, fire place enjoying, or reading. The Lodge accomodates six people in one queen bed and two queen futon beds.
The Lodge is a RUSTIC experience. While the kitchen has all the comforts of home, the Lodge is more like a luxurious camp experience than a hotel.
The building has been gently restored to a structure that stands up to modern times without compromising the integrity of the building. It has been blasted clean, with new heat, air, hot water, with a new full kitchen, a dishwasher, and a full bath.
The location is great for biking, hiking, horseback riding, kayaking, and hunting. It is ideal for those who enjoy a quiet space for creative projects or teleworking.
Veto Lodge is 5.3 miles north of Elkmont. It sits across from the site of the old L&N Railway Line - Currently the New Salem Methodist Church.
